Iedereen Ondernemer (translation: Everybody Entrepreneur) – 2012
Arko van Brakel
Our modern world is changing quickly. Traditional certainties aren’t the key to success anymore, because the amount of available information is growing fast. Whether you’re a caregiver for the elderly, teacher, entrepreneur, manager, CEO or politician, an entrepreneurial mindset is the way to go. More often, decisions need to be made without knowing all the variables. However, letting go of old certainties makes for a lot of new opportunities.
What are the most important trends and how do successful people and companies deal with them? What are the new rules we need to integrate for success keeping up with current developments? How do we deal with the changing market? What should we focus on, now that we have less certainties? What core values should and shouldn’t we keep? How do you stay close to yourself in a world that is constantly changing?

Ondernemen met Lef! (translation: being an entrepreneur with guys) – 2012
Arko van Brakel
Anyone who says ‘entrepreneurship’, says ‘Arko van Brakel’. Same goes for the word ‘guts’ – as it is undeniable to claim that this serial entrepreneur doesn’t have them. As 25-year old he founded the first company who put internet in a box and sold it through computer stores. After this, a lot of companies followed, as did two books. In 2012, he collaborated with Henk Jan Smits and co-founded de Business X Factor, a strategic boot camp for companies. This same year he also became director of De Baak.
This makes Arko the perfect editor in chief for this book. Because he knows what triggers entrepreneurs like no other: what’s in their mind, what they want to read about, who they find interesting and what they want to experience. But the book isn’t only work-related – that would be to narrow. Being venturous doesn’t stop by stepping out of the office, it’s a way of life. “Work hard, play hard, rest hard”. You can also be venturous on holiday, in the way you teach, host a restaurant, make choices in your carrier, and even coaching the Dutch hockeyteam.
